The Championship Dryland Program

Dryland Off-Ice Hockey Training for youth in Toronto

Built to Compete.

NTC’s dryland program is built specifically for hockey players — not generic athletes, not weekend warriors, hockey players. Every exercise, every session, every program exists for one reason: to make your athlete a faster, stronger, harder-to-play-against version of themselves.

Who is this for?

Athletes of all ages and levels — beginner to elite. Just like our skating program, we build around exactly where your athlete is right now, and exactly where they’re trying to go.

What your athlete will work on

  • First-step quickness, explosive acceleration, and raw power
  • Strength and stability that carry directly into faster skating, harder shots, and fewer injuries
  • Reaction time and decision-making under pressure — because the best players aren’t just strong, they’re fast thinkers
  • The conditioning to compete hard for a full shift, a full game, and a full season — not just the first ten minutes

How it works

Every session is tracked — sets, reps, volume, intensity, recovery, all of it. No two athletes train the same program at NTC. Every six weeks, your athlete is reassessed, their program is rebuilt around what we find, and they keep moving forward at exactly the right pace. This is the same Progress Scorecard process you saw with our skating program — because real development only happens when it’s measured, not guessed at.

What you can expect

Athletes on the Elite Track training at least two sessions a week can expect a minimum 6 to 8 percent improvement, assessment over assessment. That’s not a hope. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to. Speed gets them there. Strength keeps them there.

Your athlete’s first step starts with one session.

Since coming to NTC my son Nathan has made incredible strides. The main benefactor that sets NTC above all others is that the owner Dan Blackburn personally invests in each kid. Every time they show up they are met with a fist bump and a positive reinforcement. I believe as a parent the most important thing we can give our children are mentors that they respect and can take their skills to a new level that they would never achieve just listening to their parents. Dan Blackburn has been that for my son. He pushes him hard physically but also builds the mental toughness though developing the belief system in himself which has pushed him past limits in a very short period of time. If your child has a desire to be the best he can be NTC is the place to bring them.

Great work ethics and professional demeanor.

My son loves coming to the training sessions for a couple of years already and still goes with enthusiasm.
Dan and the NTC team are inspiring and tough at the same time. The bar goes only higher every time and he loves the challenge.

I would highly recommend the treadmill sessions! After only 10 to 20 sessions you can see tremendous improvement in your kid's skating, stability on the ice, speed and confidence.
Do not be discouraged if s/he does not get it at first. Set the expectations before the first session. Give it 3-5 sessions and let your kid know in advance not to expect that s/he will fly on the treadmill as they do on the ice. Even pro players have them correct thy skating strides!

I could only wish we started coming here years earlier than we did.
